Joshua is a Philadelphia-based writer and filmmaker with a vested interest in breaking and blending genres through an experimental lens. His work is both mythological and grounded, exploring the intersections of identity, sound, and the supernatural. Always socially conscious and meditative, his gaze is turned to the horizon and held by the question; "what if?"
Tira is an artist and storyteller from Cairo, currently based in Philadelphia. They graduated from Temple University with a degree in Film & Media Arts, a certificate in Music Technology, and an award for Best Undergraduate Screenplay. Since then, they balance a variety of freelance work with producing passion projects for Babellion Studios, of which they are a co-founder. Their hope for this web series is to launch them deeper into serial screenwriting and producing.
Manny Curry (He/Him) is a Philadelphia-based filmmaker and part of the Temple University class of 2023. He grew up in Bensalem, PA and began learning about film production in his sophomore year of high school. Throughout his time at Temple, Manny has not only met talented collaborators and close friends but has also fallen in love with all things G&E because it puts his creativity and problem-solving skills to the test. Now that he is a graduate, Manny works at Lightbulb rentals in Philadelphia, freelance as Grip and Gaffer, and perfects his skills as a DP every chance he gets.
Sophia is a video editor based in northern New Jersey. During her time at Temple University, she immersed herself in the world of filmmaking, gaining experience in a variety of roles across narrative and documentary projects, ultimately discovering her true calling in post-production. Currently, she is focusing on delving deeper into the dynamic field of motion graphics.
Sophia pitched the idea for “The Past, Tonight with _______” in 2022 to Josh and Tira, and was over the moon that they saw the vision and ran with the idea. She is so grateful for being a part of an amazing crew that has treated this project with such care.
Tara is a multidisciplinary theater and film artist based in Philadelphia. She approaches her work from background in sociology, dramaturgy, and theatrical propcraft. Tara recently completed a props management apprenticeship at the Walnut Street Theatre and has also served as the production designer on several films including The Styx, To Keep Your Vital Organs Warm, and Homecoming. She is drawn to works that push the boundaries of our visual expectations while still speaking to the heart of human experience.
Cormac Hennessy is the Assistant Director and Sound Designer for the Mars Apollo Team! This wannabe Ben Burtt (google him) loves all things absurd and loud. Their other half does like a little structure too and somehow enjoys writing and adhering to a good schedule. They're very grateful to be apart of the team and are excited to bring the rest of The Past, Tonight to you lovely viewers.
Noel is excited to be working with Babellion Studios for their debut in film. Noel has a background in fashion design and is currently working in theatrical costuming. They have a passion for film and is excited to be working alongside the amazing cast and crew of The Past, Tonight With Mars Apollo.
A lifelong listener, Quinn Wai surrounds himself with music in every aspect, whether he’s jamming to downtempo R&B on rollerskates, curating the sound design of the likes of Flume, or just jamming on his beloved electric piano. When not going looney for tunes, he wears the many hats of software engineer, surfer, skater, and home chef.
As one of his first released music projects, Quinn Wai is actively learning the ways of the music world through The Past, Tonight with Mars Apollo!
Kait Schnorbus is a lens-based artist local to Philadelphia and Bucks County. In 2014 her interest in photography began, which has grown to focus on studio-based portraiture. Schnorbus earned her AFA in Photography from Bucks County Community College in 2021 and is currently pursuing a BFA in Photography with Entrepreneurial Studies at Tyler School of Art and Architecture. Recently, she was the lead photographer for the school's fashion show and works with the exhibitions team as a documentary photographer. In summer of 2023, she held an internship with The Photo Review, and is currently working on her senior thesis and a CARAS Grant project.
Nayeli is a video editor from North Philadelphia. She started her journey by making anime music videos a hobby. Through that experience, she fell in love with the craft of video editing and the amount of influence it holds in storytelling. She graduated from Temple University where she was the main editor for two senior thesis projects, The Styx and Father Forgive Me. She aspires to become a narrative film editor with the skillset of motion graphics and VFX. She hopes to work with creative minds on projects that tell stories of those who feel like the black sheep in society. Ultimately, she’s excited to collaborate with her fellow colleagues in The Past, Tonight with Mars Apollo as script supervisor and editor.
Zach Rineer is a New York-based filmmaker hailing from Philadelphia and Delaware roots. Zach has been recognized for his producing and directing work on over 30 short films over the past five years. In 2022, Zach graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Directing for Film and Television. Zach's produced films that have screened at Cannes, Nashville, Philadelphia, Santa Fe, NFFTY Film Festivals, and was awarded the Best Producing Craft Award by NYU’s 2023 First Run Film Festival for the western thriller, IDLE SPEED.
Caleb recently graduated from Temple University with a concentration in post-production. He has won two awards for Best Editing for the short film, SIMMER. While in LA this past summer, Caleb edited social media reels for Teddy Fresh and It Needed To Be Said podcast. Caleb will also be our co-producer and editor for the Making Mars interview series and their accompanying reels. As DIT, he will join the crew on shoots to bring the vibes.
